Have at you!

I’m already past the stage wherein I expect to receive presents from people who are close to me during special occasions; however that doesn’t mean that I no longer become happy when I do receive gifts once in a while. In the event that I do get a present from somebody, I’m one of those few individuals who are adamant about opening gifts on the exact day of the event it was given for.  An example would be my birthday – so it’s not very different for Christmas either. Some of my friends think that it’s very odd of me, but I just find it very pleasant to open gifts first thing after breakfast in Christmas morning.

It seems that that has been the case since I was pretty young: I’d wake up relatively early on Christmas morning, very eager to go through breakfast and then carefully unwrap the presents one by one in our living room. Note that because of my OC tendencies, I do NOT (as much as possible) tear any of the gift wraps,  but instead take my sweet time in removing each piece of tape until the object inside is revealed to everyone who’d care to see it.  Whatever the present is, I’m always brimming with joy once I get to open them that I usually show each item to everyone in the family. 😀

Tonight is already Christmas Eve and while most people are currently enjoying their family gatherings/parties and are getting ready to attack the endless array of food for Noche Buena, I’m sitting in my room typing this entry with a full stomach from an early Christmas dinner (My family do not normally wait until close to midnight before we eat and we’re usually all asleep before midnight strikes). I’m grateful that the food was just enough for us and our family was close to complete this Christmas Eve. I’m also honestly looking forward to tomorrow morning, especially since the floor area under our Christmas tree is scattered with presents waiting to be opened.  It’s such a childish thing for somebody who’s already in her 20’s, but it doesn’t bother me all that much.  I think it’s something that will be forever part of who I am.

Holidays 2010

So whether you’re looking forward to opening those presents as much as I do or are just into all those gastronomical wonders you get to indulge in during this time of the year, I hope you’ll have a great holiday season with your loved ones! Merry Christmas! 🙂
