Dillingers 1903 Steak and Brew

Posted on: April 16, 2012

For my birthday last year, Pointyman gave me a coupon for Dillingers 1903 Steak and Brew in Greenbelt. I wasn’t aware that such a bar and restaurant existed until he gave me the coupon and I did some research. After reading through some reviews, I had pretty high hopes for the place since it’s said to serve pretty good food and that they come in huge servings. It’s also more well-known as a bar where a lot of party people hang out at night.

Almost three (or four?) months since the coupon was given to me, I was finally able to make use of it. The Boyfriend and I dropped by the restaurant one weekend morning, hoping we could have lunch there. The place was packed! My mistake was that I wasn’t able to reserve a table for us beforehand, so we had to leave and come back later in the afternoon. When we were finally seated, it took us some time to go through the menu, trying to choose what to order by gauging which ones sounded delicious. Most of their stuff were your typical party fare, burgers and steaks; in short, nothing really caught my attention.

Dillingers_mango juice

I normally don’t order drinks when dining out, but since we had a coupon this time, I decided to get myself a glass of mango juice. I know it sounds strange to be ordering fruit juice when you’re in a bar, but since I’m not really a fan of alcohol, I thought that this was the next best thing. :p

Dillingers_SpartacusThe Boyfriend suggested we try even just one item from the bar. We went through the list and decided to try SpartacusUnfortunately, I no longer remember the mix for this drink; it could have been something with Jack Daniel’s. 😛 The Boyfriend thought it was pretty good; I didn’t find it amusing.

For the meal, we ended up ordering two appetizers to share. I read from another blog that one of their top appetizers would be the Buffalo Chicken Wings, so we ordered one of those. Sad to say that it did not live to all the hype, since they were dry and tough. 😦

Dillingers_onion rings

The second appetizer that we chose was a serving of onion rings. It was, unfortunately, not very good either. 😦 I honestly had a difficult time eating the appetizers, probably because they became cold too quickly and none of them tasted special.

Dillingers_US Angus Rib EyeSteaks were one of the other items that were quite popular in Dillingers, so it was a no brainer for us to order a slab for The Boyfriend. He chose the U.S. Angus Rib Eye Steak, which was served with mashed potatoes (which I have to admit, was finally something that tasted pretty decent). I was glad that he enjoyed the steak very much, because at least one main dish from our meal garnered a couple of stars. The Boyfriend said that it’s so far one of the most delicious steaks he’s ever eaten. It’s also because of this that he plans to treat his family to Dillingers one of these days. By the way, the photo above doesn’t look like much but believe me, it was one HUGE slab of meat.

The experience wasn’t very positive for me, but The Boyfriend found it quite nice. Maybe if I never gave up beef and still ate it today, then things would have been a lot better. Of course, that’s just one way of looking at the situation. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy Dillingers’ food more than I did if you decide to give the place a shot.

**Dillingers is located at the 3rd floor of Greenbelt 3 in Makati.
