Have at you!

Levanté Launch: Citywalk 2, Eastwood

Posted on: May 18, 2013

Last night, I was able to attend the launch of Levanté, another place for foodies from the Mercato Centrale Group. I was honestly not feeling my best yesterday morning, but I made sure I took my meds and some extra shut-eye in the afternoon so that I wouldn’t miss the launch!

Levanté is the first collaboration of the Mercato Centrale Group with the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. This food market targets the residents within the area and the call center agents and other yuppies working inside Eastwood City. I bumped into some of my previous colleagues at the event since I used to work for one of the companies located there; I’m glad to say that they were enjoying themselves too. 🙂

Levante_Tocilog photo DSC_0285_zps11aaf746.jpgA packed meal courtesy of Sinangag Trip was also provided. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to eat mine immediately so I had to take it home after the event. I decided to have it for breakfast this morning and it was really yummy comfort food. I was off to a great start! 🙂

Levante_B.Wings team photo DSC_0287-1_zpsbc952bde.jpgWe had the privilege of meeting and speaking with Mr. Marc Castro, the brains behind B. Wings. He was really nice to everyone. He took the time to introduce their products to us and what sets them apart from the other fried chicken wings places. He mentioned that he wanted to stay away from the usual soy-garlic-honey flavors. Apart from chicken wings, they also serve fish & chips and bagnet.

Levante_B. Wings P-Noy photo DSC_0288_zpsc0d1584f.jpgTheir products have interesting names, from their basic P-Noy to the spiciest of all, called the Barack O’ Pakpak. The photo above shows the P-Noy, the one we were able to sample first. It had that slightly tangy taste (due to the use of Kaffir lime leaves) which then develops into the salty ones. Mr. Castro told us that that the Kaffir lime leaves cleanse the palate, thus allowing a better appreciation of the other flavors.

When the owner mentioned that they had a chocolate coated chicken wing variant, I was more than intrigued. (In my vocabulary, chocolate is synonymous to love. :p)  There were no Black Mamba samples readily available, but Mr. Castro was nice enough to drizzle a bit of the sauce onto the piece of chicken wing that I was already enjoying. He made sure to warn us that the sauce could be pretty spicy before doing so. I have to say…It was really nice! I loved how you could taste the chocolate first, and that you won’t feel the heat until the very end. I didn’t have any trouble with the level of spiciness, but I’m not so sure how other people would take it. Definitely two thumbs up for me! 🙂

Levante_Twisted Desserts photo DSC_0289_zpsf1355d93.jpgAnother brand whose owners we were able to have a brief chit chat with was Twisted Desserts. Owners Trixie Young and Anna Dio allowed us to sample their carrot cake and Belgian chocolate brownies. The latter tasted awesome! 🙂

Levante_Dig Deep Cups photo DSC_0290_zps2475faaf.jpgApart from their Dig Deep Cups (shown above), they also accept customized cake orders. Just contact them to discuss your ideas, theme and/or budget, and they’ll help your cake dreams come to life. 🙂

Levante_Cheat Day photo DSC_0317-1_zpsb65c35d2.jpgCheat Day took home the most creative product name for that night, in my opinion. 😛 This is from the same person behind Big Bob’s Charcoal Grilled Burgers, Mr. Ean Cuenco.

Unlike Mezza Norte in TrinomaLevanté is only open on Fridays, from 6p.m. until 3a.m. You’re free to choose among the 30 carefully selected vendors participating at the weekly event in order to satiate your cravings. Seating space is quite limited, though, so you might either have to go early if you want to get seats, or just order takeaway. 🙂

**A big THANK YOU to the Mercato Centrale Group and everyone from the Levanté PR Team (under STRATOS, Inc.) for inviting us to the launch! 🙂
