Have at you!

My brother and I went to the Manila Ocean Park today.  It’s located behind the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta.  The Oceanarium contained a diverse collection of marine life from your usual cichlids and stingrays to seahorses and sharks.  The downside was that it was smaller than expected and some of the other areas of the place still seem to be under construction.  You might want to wait a couple of months more before visiting the place to ensure that you get 400 pesos’ worth.

Anyway, here are some of the dozens of pictures I was able to take during our trip.  All photos were taken with a Motorola v3x.  The next time I visit the place, I’ll make sure I’ve already purchased my Nikon D40 (and maybe somebody can bring a decent video camera with him!).  It’s a place filled with great photo opportunities, just remember to abide by the rules and disable the flash from your camera.  Yes, flash photography is NOT allowed inside the place so please please please do NOT use flash when taking photos.  Flash photography will stress the animals and we don’t want that to happen.  I have to warn you though, once inside, you will still encounter people who won’t follow the rules and it will definitely annoy the hell out of you.

After spending almost an hour and a half inside Manila Ocean Park, my brother and I went to Robinson’s Place Manila to have lunch.  We haven’t been to the place for quite some time, so we did a bit of exploring in the mall’s new wing.  A lot of trendy shops were still under construction, but a lot of restaurants are already up and running. 

We decided to have lunch at Penang Hill [Restaurant].  We ordered Roti Canai (a type of flatbread) with curry sauce, Chicken Kari Kapitan and Mee Goreng (seafood noodles).  My favorite out of the three would be the flatbread.  I’ve always been a sucker for Roti canai since I had them at Banana Leaf!   

Oh, and according to Wikipedia, canai should be pronounced as “Chanai”, and not “Kanai”. Below is a picture of the Roti Canai we had.  Yum! 🙂

***Manila Ocean Park is open Mondays through Saturdays, 10am to 9pm.  Entrance fee for adults is at Php400 each, kids at Php350 each.  If I’m not mistaken, children below 2feet tall have free admission.   Aside from flash photography, I also read that slippers are not allowed inside the Oceanarium.
